LOVR Icons: The Beverly Hills Hotel
In the Icons Series, we take a closer look at some of the brands and institutions we love here at LOVR. This week, we explore the storied glamour of The Beverly Hills Hotel.
Timeless Allure
Since opening its doors in 1912, The Beverly Hills Hotel has epitomised Hollywood’s golden age. A sanctuary for stars and royalty, the hotel fuses historic charm with California cool. Frequented by legends like Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and Frank Sinatra, its palm-lined facade and signature pink-and-green palette have come to symbolise Los Angeles luxury.
From its iconic Polo Lounge to the banana-leaf wallpaper, the hotel evokes a sense of luxurious nostalgia. With cabana-lined pools and bungalows steeped in history, every corner of The Beverly Hills Hotel is filled with stories, cinematic affairs, and eternal star power. Much like the legends who’ve graced its halls—Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Leonardo DiCaprio—the hotel continues to evolve while preserving its legacy of effortless glamour.
Hollywood's Hideaway: Design, Legends, and Lasting Influence
The hotel’s distinctive aesthetic and storied past have sparked collaborations at the intersection of Hollywood prestige and global luxury. The playful yet refined design codes—banana-leaf wallpaper, pastel pinks, and lush greenery—have made The Beverly Hills Hotel a muse as much as a destination.
In 2021, Assouline released The Beverly Hills Hotel and Bungalows: The First 100 Years, a visually rich tribute filled with archival stories and rare photos. With contributions from Californian icons like Diane Keaton and anecdotes involving Marilyn Monroe and John Lennon, the book became a collector’s item and a love letter to an institution that helped shape Hollywood history.
That same year, Dior launched a limited-edition resort capsule directly inspired by the hotel’s unmistakable aesthetic. Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri translated its palm fronds and candy-pink palette into relaxed tailoring and feminine silhouettes. The collection was revealed in an exclusive Los Angeles event attended by Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, and Hailey Bieber—further cementing the hotel’s place as a crossroad of fashion, celebrity, and legacy.
Effortless Glamour
At its core, The Beverly Hills Hotel offers more than luxury. To those fortunate enough to cross its threshold, it offers spirit of indulgent hospitality and quiet discretion. From personalized service to a sense of timeless elegance, it has created an exclusive oasis for those seeking an escape categorised by its nostalgia and sophistication.
With its unique blend of historic charm, cultural resonance, and ongoing relevance, The Beverly Hills Hotel stands as a symbol of Hollywood mystique and California luxury. More than a place, it is an enduring icon; proof that true glamour never fades but endures through the passage of time.
